A Maori astronomy & celestial navigation event promoting the ancient knowledge of Polynesian Maori starlore and waka navigation together with western astronomy featuring guest experts, Hekenukumai Busby, Hoturoa Barclay Kerr, Jack Thatcher, Frank Andrews in seminar lecture talks, a wananga day, including stalls, art exhibits and a music concert fusion evening.
Mata Ora is an official event celebrating the International Year of Astronomy 2009 and is proudly supported by the NZ National Commission for UNESCO

The annual meeting of several research programmes dealing with processes and policies of relevance to New Zealand’s international migration system will be held on 2–4 November 2009 at Te Papa in Wellington. The 2009 meeting is being organised by the University of Waikato’s Population Studies Centre in collaboration with the Department of Labour, Monash University’s Institute for the Study of Global Movements (Melbourne) and Massey University’s Integration of Immigrants Programme.
